The hands of Jesus

Holding hands is one of my husband’s and I’s favorite things because it got us through different seasons of life. I had the opportunity to teach the value of it to my daughter recently when she pulled her hands away as I tried to hold her. I’ve always loved her tiny hands on mine and knew we had to have one of our little talks.

Treasured error

One of the most exciting things I experienced in 2024 was holding “A Million Miles with Jesus” and “Unconditionally Christ’s” in my hands. It’s one thing for God to promise and another for us to live to see it. We bought our family’s copies the day they were published, but they were hidden immediately because it’s one of the Christmas surprises for the kids.

Christmas: The Gift of Salvation

Getting gifts is pretty awesome. When we get that specific something we want, it makes us feel all giddy and special inside. Birthdays are one of the major noteworthy times when we may get gifts. One of my favorite birthday gifts is this music box with a mini snow globe and hourglass on top of it that my parents got me. I love this gift because it’s unique and personal; my parents know I like weird and unusual things.

Promise Fulfilled: “I see a book!”

It doesn't matter what you think about Jesus; one thing is sure: He is faithful, and what He says, He'll bring to past (Isaiah 46:11). The road to publishing “A Million Miles with Jesus” and “Unconditionally Christ’s” was not easy. I took many detours and failed each time. Still, God is always faithful to His promises to uphold the weary hands and encourage a heart willing to honor Him. These books testify to God's faithfulness, and His graciousness humbles me.

How is that working out for you?

Thinking through a simple scenario. Two extremely thirsty men came across a well but could only draw from it one at a time. The first man went to the well and pulled his cup of refreshing water, quenching his thirst. He went to his friend excitedly, telling him about his satisfaction after drinking water from the well.

Thanksgiving: for another day

The saddest place a person can be is a place void of God. A place where the vitality of the work of redemption accomplished on the cross at Calvary has eluded the mind. A place saturated with the presence of self instead of the dominance of the Holy Spirit.

To live like Christ: Jesus is Jesus

I grew up eating only organic food because the world around me was not as industrialized as it is now. It’s been years since then, and I still have difficulty adjusting to non-organic food tastes. While in terms of food, God has blessed humanity with the wisdom to maximize our available resources to combat hunger, I still like organic better because my mouth has tasted its goodness.

If you are reading me

Positive thinking is an idea filtered through the lens of mankind. It emphasizes the ability to believe and speak your beliefs into existence. Although it tries to mirror the positivity of the Christian faith, it is nothing like what the Bible teaches. While a positive thinking ideology promotes following one's heart…

You can’t blame God

My life has certainly not always been a bed of roses, but neither has the life of anyone I know. I’ve not always made the right choices, and I don’t know anyone who has either. You work through Earth’s roads, toiling to make ends meet, and you dare not blink; otherwise, you might lose it all.

Cautious grace

We enjoy honey from bees, but bees also sting. Also, water is a source of life, but it can also take life, and fire is necessary for human sustenance and can also destroy. We cook and even warm our homes with fire, but we know not to stick our fingers in it; otherwise, it will burn them.

This life I live

People say life is precious, but how do we determine what ‘precious’ means? It is a relative word that can be interpreted differently. What is precious to one person might not be to another.

To know the love of Christ

What does it mean “To know?” The phrase is so loosely used that even things that fall under guessing pass for “I know!” Knowing is a giant leap from what we think to what we know. It rides above the train of confusion and cannot be moved by innuendos.

Only possible by God

Thinking about the complexity of humanity, the conflicts, divisions, and confusion, the simplicity of following Christ is the single choice in life that gives it meaning. People make choices that seem impossible for our mortal minds to fathom daily, yet we don’t question the authenticity of their human nature.

This is the place of rest

I feel a profound urgency for all Christians to awaken and live as God intends them to live: as warriors. Life is not just a series of tasks between waking and sleeping. Our lives have a singular purpose: to live for Jesus. He should be the reason behind all our actions and decisions.

This longing in my soul

In case you’ve not noticed, I love Jesus and love to talk about Him. While I wish everyone knew the depth of His love as I do, my love for Him is personal. If you’ve been where I’ve been and seen what I’ve seen, then you’ll know that life does not exist outside of Him.

The Bible: The Living Word

While unpacking a box, we found a Bible I used a few decades ago. As soon as I saw it, I knew it. It was a close friend I had carried with me for some years. I can remember sitting on my bed reading it and flipping the pages at Church to where the preacher guides. Seeing the compact blue Bible in my husband’s hand almost brought me to tears...

He that walks with the wise

There is no such thing as common sense in our world anymore. Simple innate reasonings are now clouded and convoluted with human erroneous suppositions. To be wise, we must look through the lens through which God sees things and listen with ears tuned to the frequency of Heaven.

Growth in quietness

At the time I’m writing this, I am feeling overwhelmed. I can’t say why or what the cause is, but my heart longs for that quiet space where the rhythm lines up with God. Do I have too much on my life’s plate, or am I doing too much too soon? I don’t know. I’ve committed my life to God’s hands…

If time could talk

Naturally, what you spend the most time on determines what your life looks like. You can’t spend time learning how to fish when you intend to become a great golfer or roll in the dumpster and expect to smell like roses. Also, you can’t be heading to Heaven and spend so much time in places that do not glorify your destination.

How God sees it

The questions people wrestle with the most are, “How can God love the world with all the mess in it, and how can He die for unworthy people?” Although our mortal minds can never fathom the depth of God’s love for humanity, we can experience it by accepting the gift of redemption through the death of Christ on the cross.
