When your heart hurts
Martha Olawale
“Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” Isaiah 46:4
To say that my heart hurts is putting it mildly. I am sad! It’s one of those unexpected moments you want the world to stop and rewind itself, skipping the pain you didn’t expect or plan for. The world seems more evil than you remembered it a day before, and you just want to SCREAM.
Yes, my heart hurts as yours might be, but our refuge is in the Lord of hosts, and He carries and sustains us even in the darkest moments. He said in Isaiah 46:4, “I am He who will sustain you. I have made you, and I will carry you!” My prayer is that your soul finds rest as God nurtures it back to health. This is an emotional phase, and your rest comes from knowing that “To live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21.” We lose nothing, so we say to death, 'SO WHAT?!” This banner of the cross I bear is what I live for and will gladly die for.
Psalm 46:1-7 says,
1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
AMEN!
