Father's: He cannot be moved

“I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.” Psalm 16:8
Imagine what Goliath thought when he saw David walk toward him on the battlefield. He had spent forty days taunting the God of Israel and did not expect that a boy with a sling in his hand and the love of God in his heart would end him. Goliath appeared tall and strong to everyone because they were limited by what they could see, not by the invincible, undefeatable, mighty God who was fighting for Israel.
While God guaranteed Israel’s victory and could have ended Goliath's life in a second, one man needed to stand against the enemy. The swords and armor of Israel’s armies seemed inadequate because they were not looking inward to the strength that comes from walking with God and to the confidence that comes from receiving the stamp of Heaven.
Each morning, they allowed their spirits to be broken by the words of a man who had no idea who Jehovah was, leaving them increasingly weary. The Bible says that whenever they saw Goliath, they fled from him. David only needed to hear Goliath once to know that Goliath was doomed to stand up not against him but against God. He asked in 1 Samuel 17:26, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
Yes, the enemy can take his stand, but until one man stands up against him, he will keep yapping. 1 Samuel 17:16 says, “For forty days the Philistine came forward every morning and evening and took his stand.” David knew what must happen; he must not be a number in the crowd but a warrior willing to stand for what he believed and for the God he knew. Until a shepherd boy who walked with God reached the battlefield, the lines drawn by the armies each day were mere routine.
I have seen and walked with a few great men who, like David, are willing to step off the sidelines to pursue God’s purpose for their lives and to live fully devoted to standing for their faith at work, at home, and wherever God leads them. They are men of the Word and prayer, and in them is hope for a broken world through the Holy Spirit. Their honor is not in armor forged by human accolades or wealth as defined by the world. Their strength is in God and their honor in a shield soaked in truth and righteousness (Ephesians 8:14).
They are preserved, not by earthly affluence, but by their walk with God. Like Goliath, don’t be fooled by the sling in the hand of one who knows God, and like Pharaoh, look beyond the crooked staff they hold. A man who walks with God is backed by the Heavens and stands on the solid rock of Christ alone. He is immovable, unshakable, unbreakable, and STANDS!
“Those who trust in the Lord
Are like Mount Zion,
Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.” Psalm 125:1
