Affirmed by God

Martha Olawale

“Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.” Isaiah 44:6

Because someone uses God’s name in a lengthy charismatic speech does not guarantee Heaven’s stamp on it. We must live affirmed by God, not the other way round, because just because it affirms God does not mean God affirms it. God is God and does not need the approval of anyone to be who He is, and as His child, neither do you.

Introducing Himself to Moses in Exodus 3:14, God said, “I am, who I am!” He knows exactly who He is, and regardless of anyone’s view of Him, He remains God, All-Mighty, All-Knowing. He is the “I am,” who was, is, and will always be. His response to Jeremiah in Jeremiah chapter 32 speaks to His sovereignty. He said to him in verse 17, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”

The deeper your knowledge of God, the broader your mind’s eye. Walking with God reduces the haughtiness of anyone’s heart because your understanding of Him expands your view beyond the limitations of the human mind. This, in turn, sets you in line with His definition of who you are as you grow in your understanding of who He is.

Listen to God and remember who He calls you: a leader, an evangelist, a teacher, a provider. Whatever it is, if God affirms it, no one can denounce it. When God calls you a name, it doesn’t matter the obstacles you have to cross; you will live up to that name when you walk with Him.

You are who God says you are. Honor God, believe it, live like it. All the giants of our faith lived up to their names because God keeps His promises and does not back down to any opposition. Moses walked through the desert, crossed the Red Sea, and faced a mob, yet he is credited as a deliverer. Abraham was a hundred years old before he had Issac (Genesis 21:5), yet he is credited as the “Father of many nations.” Crucified almost two thousand years ago, Jesus is still living up to His name, saving millions worldwide.
